Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

That tank is going to look stunning in that room- the dark substrate, with the gnarly moss-covered root wood will really compliment your leather and wood decor.
What is that substrate you're using? What is the front left of the tank being saved for? You seem to have it sectioned off with plastic?

Thank you!
It is soil *no substrate). ADA Amazonia soil.
Front left section gives me a control of water levels of the tank as dis will stay dry for a week or 2. So if water leveks too high i let the pipe in to suck water out. In thus case I will have acces to the lovest kvls of the tank and no soil will get stuck in pipe.

Nice setup Lauris, I like the natural it looks. The microsword seems a nice choice but I won't be adding a lot of plants. A microsorum pteropus trident maybe or too big?
What kind of moss have you used?
Are you doing a shrimp tank?

I'd like to wait for you and chat with you and Kev a lil...maybe but other time!

Hi Lydia!
Thanks. I dunno if it was a micro sword or something like but very small in size. Could be some type of micro sword. Already added to tank. Mostly all over the bottom. I will see if it will settle in. I will try to keep it fairly low.I defo will add some bushy ones on right side top. This was the plan.

I would like to keep crystals breeding in it.

Btw - I promised to Kev to do a tank photography workshop at his place. So I do believe it would be a nice time to meet up if Kev does not mind

I have 3 type of mosses - triangle moss, java and willow moss

I am planted!

That's a great little time-lapse viseo there, Larius. Should have recognised the ADA Amazonia- I have about 6 bags of it in my main tank! Looks much better in yours though!
Good luck with the tank and keep those photos of the progress coming.

I would love that, sure we can have a great time at same time we learn something new!

Lovely the triangle, didn't know it.

I have some willow in a breeding box, don't know where to use it since its too large, ideas?

you've defiantly have been bitten by the planted bug Lauris.

Looking good.
the "sword" plant looks like lilaeopsis braziliensis. Which can grow with a bit of height depending on light.
It might grow taller than your rocks. Just keep an eye on it.

I would place the Co2 diffuser in the filter section and let the pump blow it around the tank.

Good luck with it.
