Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

You would have no problems at all with having these delivered. Will probably take up to2 weeks to arrie though. I have had lots of similar things delivered without any problems.

Mickey,
You should get them through OK, I have had stuff I bought via ebay and AquaBid all arrive (eventually). Like Jamie says you could have a bit of a wait, but not as long as I have to wait, the West Midlands is like the back of beyond for getting stuff delivered!

Thanks Mickey, it's good to be back - a little shaken nevertheless. The painkillers are doing their job but the anti-feeling-sick ones still have to 'kick in' but I remain ever hopeful...

Cheers,
John

I had considered this as it is EBay i was able to see all feed back there was only three out of hundreds negative and none were to do with fairy shrimp my understanding is it comes as dry goods and i noted that any problems had been rectified very quickly this is a power seller i ordered two cost me less than sixteen yo yos as an experiment. it will be excelent for guppys and fry plus will keep the  giant danio:evil: busy(i hope)

That's good news so far...please keep us informed - I for one am very interested to know how the freshwater stuff's hatch rate compares with the ordinary 'brine' shrimps...
Also interested to know what fish you ordered - from the same place?

No the fish were from a local shop but did not arrive, it was the place i mentioned to you before John. But I am considering bringing in some fish from Thailand in the future just at the moment we've no place for them and i would have to order a minimum of one hundred or five boxes which i would have to collect at the airport. But unfortunately for now that is on the back boiler cause we're in the middle of planning permission so everything's a bit up in the air.

Well I've took the plunge I set the tank up last night no heater or filter, I just wanted to insure the temp stayed above 18, happy days it did so added the eggs tonight so within 24 hours they should be swimming around ready to be fed to my fry. I don't expect to get a good result I found it kinda awkward cas the tank is on the fridge so I had to use a ladder so there was very limited space. They came in something from a lab, the kind of thing you would see DNA samples in CSI or the likes. I am almost sure it was open at customs because the foil to protect it was open and reclosed but you can never close it properly the second time but I'll post some photos later. The second vile I am keeping for later so I can decide what I want to do with it when I get this lot sorted, I seen I can get food and special tanks for them from the U.S so I might start a tank to supply myself. Should be interesting.!.!

it is quite clear that it live up to expectations there are easily 1000 of these here they are white almost clear. i took a cubic centimeter and counted what was in that area did this a few times got my average and multiplied it by the cc area they filled (explained that badly)and i would say that it 99 to 100% success rate for a first attempt i am very and would/will be doing this again
