Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hi Chris
Yep I use it too.
The only thing I find with it is that ALL the pots are the same colour.
So you have to look to make sure your picking up the right one.
There are over 22 different types of this food.

It is great stuff.
I cannot describe the frenzy my africans go into when I throw in NLS.
I'm using the community granules to grow out my cichlid fry and they seem to be growing well.
The biggest are at 3/4 inch already after two weeks.

Are you steeping your NLS in Cattle Hormones? What fry are you growing on,Rubescens Red I think I remeber you mention? They really do come on well,I grew some on for Anto and they thrive on NLS but take about 4-6 months to start showing any signs of colour.

Yeah thats them alright.
They are big enough that you can see the tiger striping on their flanks.
As far as I can see there has been no losses.
I also have a snail in there on clean up.
Wonderful creatures!!!
On the NLS, the fry weren't really interested in the cichlid formula (ground up), it just dropped to the sand and stayed there.
They are paying more attaention to the community sized stuff though, I don't grind that. Yesterday I saw a few tentatively feed from the surface.

I use it too, use a few different types and particularly the growth food for fry and find it excellent.

have to chip in here. Great stuff. Fish love it and it's cheap as chips off eBay if buying big tubs....

anyone tried the NLS flake food?
Was thinking of getting some just for a little variety in the fishes lives..... ie - coming to the top for food rather than waiting for it to sink.

Have used it in my community tank for the past couple of months and the fish are looking great. Hopefully it does the same for my Malawis.
Regards,
Ken.

I only found out recently that they do a special blend called Finicky Fish Formula and that certainly works if you have a fish that is a little shy or off colour. Main ingredients are Mussel, Krill and Herring.
