Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Online works out cheaper, but freshness and best before dates can be questionable at times. At least in a store you have a guarantee:)

Last time I bought it in store it cost me 40 quid for the same tub I paid 25 for a few months earlier... Reckon I will look online the next time, I remember there was a post on here some time back about buying it by the bucket online, might be worth having a search.

just my 2 cents.....unless you have a fish house full of tanks id think it better to buy the smallest tubs you can find so the food keeps fresh. ps i got mine in wackers

Thats very true Fran.Even though they have a vacuum seal the freshness will degrade fast after a year or slightly longer.

One solution is to buy a 2.2Kg tub and fill up smaller tubs as you need it,instead of exposing the big tub to oxygen every time you feed.

Any time I search all i get is this anyone else getting this....

Warning: implode() [function.implode]: Bad arguments. in /usr/home/darragh/public_html/irishfishkeepers.com/cms/components/com_kunena/sources/fb_search.class.php on line 177

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /usr/home/darragh/public_html/irishfishkeepers.com/cms/components/com_kunena/sources/fb_search.class.php on line 240

Anyway......
I bought a 600g & 90g tub myself a good while back in wackers. I've been looking online to see if the big 2.2kg tub would work out cheaper or even the 600g (cause it's good stuff but not cheap)and the only place so far I can find it is on ebay from USA and it ain't cheap.

I know 2.2kg is alot but surly you could bring it to your local butchers/supermarket and get them to vacuum pack it into small convenient bag sizes.

@ Zale,

The Search field located above the categories' page is not operational and you get the message quoted above.

You can use either the Search functionality in the Main Menu, on the left hand side of the page, or the one at the very very top right of the page (above the banner).

I hope this helps.

Kindest regards,
Valerie
