Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Why is it that only some and in my experience very few shops sell new life spectrum?. What is the best complete food on the market and why is it that only some if few sell NLS? I mean if its so good why aren't they all selling it?

Would imagine the NLS is down to the suppliers of the individual shops. In terms of the best fish food, its an open ended question really. I mean it all depends on the type of fish you are keeping and what you want to do with them eg.breeding,(feeding less means they will be alot slower to breed). Its impossible to just pick a set food type, bottom feeders require different foods from those of chilids, barbs, charcins, shrimp etc... The list is endless. I think ultimately its abit like us, a good mix and variation is what fish appreciate most eg. Microworms,BBS,flakes, natural veg, bloodworms, grindal worms, etc...Live food and prepared food differ, dryed, frozen etc...Far too many to just mention one to be honest.

Hy,
Nls is in my eyes the best food for my Malawis and Tanganjikans. The pellets dont polute the water as much than frozen food or some flakes. But i think that Tetra or Sera has the same quality. So its the choice of everybody who he trusts. Why more shops dont stock it-could be that they have contracts with other suppliers.I get mine over the internet-works out way cheaper.Hope it helps,Tim

To echo points above, the best food is what your fish thrive on.
I have various species that need a lot of vegetable type matter, they devour Tetra PlecoWafers and JMC catfish pellets, but won't go anywhere near the NLS H20 stable wafers, which cost a hell of a lot more. The NLS contain a lot less ash,so the tanks needs cleaning more regularly when using the previous 2.

always on the lookout for interesting corys.pm me if you know off any!
