Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

They never stop surprising you, also there is a cat which behaviour is pretty similar to a dog, the siberian forest breed.
I never had cats before moving to Ireland, in fact I wasn't fan of them since my mother's in law cat attack me...that fracker was really crazy.

Now I have 2 irish cats adopted and they are so funny! There isn't a single day they don't made us laugh!

No never has shown, neither does the swap subforum, we have to tell John or Valerie so they can change it.

from what i here there is a reason for it not coming up on the main page
to many people were posting rubbish non fish related eg soccer along with other things
that just cause a conflict of intrest maybe its better for this section not to be changed we just need to remember
to post in another section if its something we want to be seen

I understand that but I guess most people use the recent topic tab in order to read the last updates so unless you come here or the swap one you miss things.

Johnny did you meant it appears at the Index of the forum (for me is shown as well) or in your Recent Topics tab?

Recent topics. I never look down as far as Social & Rubbish, so I'd never have seen it otherwise

Ok you must be in a special users group or something like that because for me none of Social & Rubbish nor Swap are not listed at recent topics tab. I usually look at Recent topics not the whole index of the forum because its too large and I've missed a couple of things in Swap section I was interested in them because of that.

Other option is subscribing to the topic your interested in but that is not recommendable because you'll get a lot emails notifications and obviously you can't subscribe to anything it doesn't exist yet.

So I'd really appreciate watching all forums/subforums in Recent Topic tab.

I Just looked down the index page and i se there is new topic in the swap section i would never have know if i didn't go down to the bottom of the page maybe the tabs could be moved up by Darren or make it easyer to see from the index page.
