Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Are you a fan of both of them?

I remember knowing of KoЯn from the days when they played pubs in the UK.

Yeah I am
Although I'm not a fan of concerts must say since I missed the opportunity of watching Pantera forever... I can't miss these two too!

That was very shocking about Pantera.

Sounds like you're a rock-chick (if that is not a rude term)

Well I'm not a 'one kind of music person' since I like different types of music but I always listen the same list with Pantera, Ramones, Disturbed, Korn, Metallica (pre load and following albums), SOAD, Slipknot, Rammstein, Soundgarden/Audioslave, Il Niño, Papa Roach, Sepultura, Foo Fighters, Marilyn Manson, Queen, The Rasmus...I dislike spanish music, latinamerican or jazz for example.

That sounds like a Rock-Chick :D

Rammstein ! (interesting choice there).

I actually saw Manson at the RDS when at the Iron Maiden gig some years ago.

Funnily enough, I love Flamenco music (I used to play Spanish guitar when I was fit enough to do it). I love playing jazz but hate listening to it (goodness it is so boring to listen to).

My husband used to play the guitar too, now it's just an ornament in our living-room :)

What style?
I changed from classical music to, what is now called, doom/death metal in the late 70s..............because: loud guitars are fun and very childish (I love it)

Ian you seem quite peculiar, I've never known someone older than 40 who does like this kind of music!

He tells me he wasn't good at it so punk, hardcore because he says 'you don't need to know a lot to play something pretty decent' :) like for example Sick of it all

...and what makes you think I'm over 40 !!!! (gosh, shock, horror)
(apart from my aged looks etc etc etc )

I'm mainly a, what we call, a Prog Rock fan..........but really heavy stuff is great (I am hoping for Opeth to pop over to Ireland at some time)

try Skyforger. You may like it. They are my favorites for a years. it is Latvian Pagan metal.
they do sing only Latvian, but here is a fact how good they are:
back in 2010 they were performing in Cork Winterfest as special Guests.
They played so well all Irish lads were trying so sing Latvian :)

also I love Die Apokalyptischen Reiter (German folk metal)
powerful stuff.

(I started with Korn, Blind all the way.. when I was 13..117 years ago.. Jesus I'm old. lol )

I am planted!
