Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Perfect Day

How can you combine two of your favourite hobbies into a single post? I know, take some videos of my fish tank with YNWA as a backing track to celebrate the fabulous Reds beating Chelski on their own patch today to go three points clear!! For those of you who are not Liverpool fans you might want to press mute before pressing play

Please forgive the amateur cinematography but I wanted to show you all how the help you have given me to get off the ground has turned out.

If anyone has any comments/suggestions on the condition of the fish or tank itself (either positive or negative) please feel free to post.

BTW, after the problem I had with the heater last week it is now reading 28.5C, is that too high? What’s the ideal temperature?

Wow - this is a very nice tank - nice centre piece to the room ! Thank you.

The sound track ... I admit I did turn it down ... I would have prefered a moto GP or a good old Metallica sound track ; but that is a question of preference !

Thank you for sharing these pictures with us.

Thanks guys,

I got a bit carried away with the Liverpool win yesterday so will post something similar without YNWA blaring away in the background. Anyone object to the greatest rock n roll band in the world blasting out instead? Yes I'm also a huge AC/DC fan but mega depressed I couldn't get tix to the O2 concert next April, spent ages on two laptops trying to get tix when they went on sale but no joy :( If anyone knows of two going spare please please please think of me!!

Arabesque, Damien O'Kelly of AquaClear aquariums built it for me. He is a top top guy who takes real pride in what he does and obviously knows his stuff. I would like to point you in the direction of his website to see other examples of his work but having had my knuckles gently rapped by Valerie already for publishing links to non sponsors(which wasn't an entirely unpleasent experience) I won't state his domain name here but let's just say its aquaclear followed by something which rhymes with "dot two three"!! (I'm sorry already Valerie :P )

Will try to turn the heater down to 25c, it doesn't seem to be reacting well to the temp switch but that should get fixed when I install the new one I ordered last week as I'll set that at 25C from day one.

Enjoy the bank holiday.

Ben

Valerie the Metallica concert in the summer was brilliant, but sure nothing else matters but that :) Andrew
