Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hey could anyone help me please?

take a look at my video

is this normal krib behavior?

I got 2 which i thought had paired off but the one you see first in this video has a real red belly & the other one didn't & it was getting picked on the other one and all it did was hide and try swim away when the other krib came near it so i went back and traded the one that was gettin picked as i thought i had two the same sex.

So i went back and asked for the opposite sex to what i brought back

I got another one which is having the same problem!!

I think the first krib you see in the vid is a female but i could be wrong im just goin on its belly shape/colour

any help would be brilliant

thanks!!!!!!!!!:)

First krib I see looks like a female to me too,
the 2nd is a male to my opinion, he lookes a bit stressed
Sometimes the female just doesn't like the male, or the other way around ( she is just not that in to him)or your female feels that he is an intruder in her territory because she is there longer.
I had a male that wasn't what my female liked and he was brought back to the LFS)
If you are exchanging the 2nd fish in the clip, what you might try to do is rearrange your tank when you bring back another male krib, that way both the original (F) and the male are in a new territory
if you know what I mean
hope this helps
Astrid

hey they fianlly paired up today!!

yesterday the male, instead of swimming away from the female stood up to her and they had a lil' fight (it looked fairly intense) for a good 20 mins then i left for work and when i came back they had paired up and haventleft each others side since!:)

they are both now defending a spot in the back of my tank so hopefully i'll see some fry in the next few weeks!!!:)

Yes it is, mine is up and running, don't make the same mistake I did and leave some of the fry in with the parents (I took all of them out, and the parents are very upset right now)
good luck with them
