Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Picked up the rocks down the long mile rd!..was about 4 or 5 months ago now.
Dont think ill bother with shell dwellers tbh. at first i was going to go with Tangs (hence why theres shells in there) but im going to
try keep this tank simple enough...
Was thinking
4xCaeruleus (might pick up another couple actually),
4-6x Pseudotropheus Acei (yellow tail) -if/when i can find them
maybe a couple Elongatus Mpanga
nd a few of something else yet to be decided...
Tbh im not 100% sure on whats going to work stocking wise...so for the min im just getting a few that look compleatly different nd have mild aggression.
After that ill be on picking at your minds for suggestions!

The Acei will go well with the Caeruleus.
Ps. Neon spot would look good too
Remember to add any new fish in groups & watch for aggression.
What works for me when adding new fish is leaving the lights off with a cover over the tank for a day or two.
The species you arent looking at arent particularly aggressive though so you should be Ok

Thanks for the input 2Poc!
Picked up another couple of Caeruleus today and, (what i think) is a pair of Elongatus [ill get pics up to confirm that tho!]
Tank is going well otherwise!..a bit of a blue-green Algea boom, but im clearing it daily and doing twice weekly waterchanges till it settles.
Does anyone have any idea where might have yellow tail Acei?... Used to see them everywhere..now im looking for em tho theres not one in sight!
Will get another couple photos up later anyways!
Thanks again!

They are the only Malawi that I just havent been able to keep alive.
I kept them twice and both times they came down with weird conditions like popeye.
I have a pair of white tail acei at the moment & they seem much hardier. Whackers on the longmile road is where I'd look if I wanted some.
Be prepared for them to be juveniles full of hormones though as they're coming from hardys.

I managed to catch the second guy (after only 2 hours!) with baited traps...swapped him for another elongatus (def the same fish his time!)
Aint seen any real aggression in the tank yet...the two elongatus were danceing around each other for a while on saturday night and started digging a pit in the middle of the tank..not sure what that means exactly but there was no nipping at each other or anything like that!..
