Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

I look forward to seeing how the new tank looks

Do you think I could add to the 4 Blue Diamonds I have in my tank?

Hi Sina, I will take some pics tonight and post them here.

Hi
I think you could, why not, if it's not overcrowded with some other fish?
As I said, I used to keep 3 breeding pairs in Rio 180, and my plan is to do that again

Thanks

These are from my first batch, brothers and sister (hopefully) of those that some people from the Forum bought from me.
Now, when they are moved to a bigger tank, I hope for some breeding pairs

We'll see!

Just wondered because I was always led to believe they need more space

Is the Rio 180 a permanent home for them ie will they be still in it at adult size?
Just wondered because I was always led to believe they need more space
Hi,
They are about 12cm now. My plan is to keep them in this tank until I have one breeding pair that will go to their own tank. I don't think they will grow much bigger in Rio 180, probably to 15cm max. 8 Jumbos would be to many, but I used to keep 3 breeding pairs in Rio 180, not Jumbos but 3 aldult pairs.
Off course, regular water changes are must, and I do 30-40% once a week, it will be probably twice a week when they get bigger.
Thanks
Sina

Hi,
They are same age as yours, those you've got from me, same batch, brothers and sisters

Any recent photos/videos of your tank?
Thanks

Thanks - I will get some pics up this weekend.
Only 1 of the 4 I have is the same size as the ones in your tank, the others are a little smaller.

Just wondering Sina: wouldn't it be better for breeding to "swap" fish with other aquarists? I mean is it good to breed brothers and sisters? or is it irrelevant when it comes to fish?

Hi
I'm not an expert in genetics

It would be good to swap with other people too, but it's not easy to find same quality fish, and people willing to swap.
