Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Great stuff Russell , Thats sure is a good sign. It be great to see them spawn again so quick after the journey . Ah they must know they are home !! :) . The female is my favourite of them , she has a great personality and was always first up to my hand. They Geo is made up with himself here now not only has he the tank practically to himself now, he thought easter came early with all the eggs

Cheers
Alan

Russell , yeah I thought that too but couldn't be sure ,we reckoned the big daddy and the other 3 were female, it be interesting to find out. I know out of the 3 I got from you was another male but my mate took him because we were certain of him , he was very much Alpha male , he had no red spotting if you can remember. He still had no look with him yet he is trying to breed him with a tank strain. He was so pushy we reckoned he would have been the first to spawn especially with a ripe tank bred female but he isn't interested at all. They get on well but its just not happening.

He is proboably fussy and prefers his own another "F" pure strain. but you can't make them breed only encourage them. I know friends with Tefe's who have had them 5 years but still no luck.

Believe it or not but the one that had the trouble with the Clown loach is challenging Big Daddy over the Female. a lot of tail slapping in his face and ushering the female away from him. he isn't to happy about it!!!!! On another note I dropped the Ph to 6.1 & they were not to happy gently upped it to 6.3 still a bit moody Finaly at 6.5 they were full of themselves. Also at 70 TDS they were a bit apprehensive now at 129 they are fine. just goes to show how tempremental they can be. Doing a 30% water change tommorow at a slightly lowere temp. presently 81 new water 78 and see if that triggers some action.
A lot of cleaning on the Amazon sword so something is in the air.

Very good Russell , must get my TDS metre checked on that note , but I'm sure its ok I never had them in water above 80, straight from the tap it hovers in around 67 . ( getting worried now  ). Ah that fella , so he is a male after all. I never thought that. Anyway my money is on the big Daddy to sort him out. The one and only fry is still hanging in here, the other wouldn't feed off the browns and departed.
