ICH STILL HERE,
×
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Took me over two months and three different meds to get finally get rid of a dose I had before christmas.
The only advise I would give is keep perserveering and make sure you have the correct dosage. If you have an external filter allow for the additional water when making your dosage. In the same respect if you have a lot of ornaments allow for a reduction in dosage too.
Also if you find it is only affecting the one fish it could be the fish is stressed for some other reason and this can weaken its resistance. You could also try feeding the garlic and brineshrimp frozen food, this apparently helps.
I found out (too late) that my 15 month old was banging on the tank during the day and freaking my keyholes cichlids out and I think this may have contributed to it !
I also found out that after about two months of treatment my white sand had turned blue!!
Best of luck.

I had the same problem late last year. even when you think its gone I would continue the treatment for another week.I changed brand of treatment and that seemed to clear it up.

As Louis said, maybe a change of treatment......Have you tried eSHa exit? it's a 3 day course and it has done the job for me 2 times in the 3 days!! just make sure you do a nice big water change before your next move, best of luck!!

Yeah the eSHA exit worked for me and is easier to use as you dont have to do a water change during treatment but as Ger says do a big water change before starting treatment.

I used the eSHa exit for 3 days and it didn't clear it so the man in the pet shop told me to keep it up for 10 days with the temp at 32degrees, which i've done today is my last day. Do you all think i should keep going.

The advice is to use the medication for another week after all signs of ich are gone. If you read the instructions, should indicate the right course of action.
