Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hi guys i restocked my tank after the tropheus incident.I got some cardinal tetra's and 2 Kribs 1m 1f.The kribs i got last week and shortly after putting them in the tank the male started attacking the female i thought they were just sizing each other up but unfortunatly she died a couple of days later. Just today i bought another female Krib soon as i put her in the tank the male started . He floats over to her virtually motionless with all his fins flared and then starts chasing her, and when she gets away he then has a go off all the other fish in the tank. Can i do anything to kerb this behaviour?

Cheers Stuart.

Take the male out of tank for a while (even an hour or two), rearrange some of the decor, introduce the female and then put back male. Now he'll be the 'newcomer' and won't be as aggressive, he'll be too busy 'exploring' his 'new' surroundings :)

You'd probably get some better advice on that on the other forum. ;)
(I'm sure the moderators here don't mind me saying that the best advice on waxing and stockings is on the other forum)

A bit of healthy forum rivalry , always a good thing...

But back to the subject, the bold corner didnt work for this male. I could only keep him out of the tank for about two hours, but while he was out i rearranged the decor and when i let him back in i left the lights off for about 6 hours to let things settle down. but he was soon back to his old tricks, he does get quite colourfull when hes angry.Any who , baged him up today and brought him back, got the smallest male there in the hopes that it would even thins up a bit.So far so good, lights will go back on tomorrow and ill see how he is settling in.

Stuart.
