Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Well done. Just a quick tip - syphon off any left over food as this is a major cause of bacteria build up.

Hey Stephen,

its great to see your little guys up and swimming - I wasn't sure if the spawn would survive the trip to Dublin, so am delighted to see them doing so well.

Most of mine (about 30) are doing great - they are 5 weeks old now, and thankfully eating crushed flake food now.

I do have at least half a dozen that wallow on the bottom of the tank on their sides. They get up to eat when food comes in, but then go back to their little corner. I am not holding out much hope for those guys. I am putting this down to experience - I think food was left on the bottom of the tank for too long (I normally siphon it off within the hour, but a couple of days I was working away from home and food/waste would have been left on the bottom of the tank until I got back).

I had read that sometimes these little guys will 'come good' but I've been waiting 2 weeks now, and there's been no improvement.

Having said that, the rest of the guys are doing fantastic - I reckon I've seen fish of a similar size being sold in my lfs.

Someone asked what type of angels these guys are: I think the mum is a 'half black', and the dad is a 'half blue/half altum'.

Be sure to keep us updated on how your guys are doing!
Helen

Hey Every1,

Just a little update of how my little guys are doing, Pushing on 8-9 weeks old now and growing every day!!
The last count was 18-19 some still smaller than others but im happy enough,

I had a little scare when moving them onto 'solid' Flake foods, when they didnt eat them...at all... but after 2 days of nothing else they just cant get enough :)

I still have the little dudes in their own tank at the mo and might try and move them in the next couple of weeks into my community tank, ( well a few of them..Not all ) lol

Hope you enjoy the pics will keep people updated!! Plus Sorry for the bad photos They just WONT STOP MOVING!!

Ps.. AnyBody have a spare internal filter that their not using? I will happily take it, Im still using the spong filter and think I should use a proper one soon,
Anywho Take care,

Stephen M.
