Beautiful Congo's
×
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hi everyone,
I just had to put up this post. I have a little shoal (six) of Congo Tetras in my tank at home. These have to be the most stunning fish I have ever had in the tank. Period.
To be honest I didn't even realise how nice they have become as I have had some trouble with my light unit and a new one is ordered, that's a whole other story. But for some reason today the lights came on and stayed on for a while Yay.
At work (Maxizoo Clonmel) I often have customers zooming in on the usual stuff Neons Cardinals and the more brightly coloured Tetras not realising how gorgeous these little fellows are, and they won't believe you when you tell them.
Of course in the shop the Congos for sale are a little smaller and not fully coloured up. But take them home people, and OMG, when they are happy they are stunning. My guys are now about 4 to 5 inches and have a bluey gold iridescent sheen which has to be seen to be believed. Anyone visiting my home hardly looks at the Angels they all want to know the name of these beauties. Anyway before I wax too lyrical I am gonna try and attach a video for you all to agree with me how nice they are. I hope this works. And for the video experts among you I apologise in advance for the lack of a suitable classic music track in the background. Only a simple video from my phone. Enjoy.
Catherine M.

Okay right, no video.. maybe I need some tips on posting videos. Pity, you will all have to be content with a photo, always supposing this will work, I think this laptop has a mind of it's own.

Lovely stuff there,
You clearly love your fish!
If your putting up videos from
Youtube, just copy the URL and paste it
In the comment box
That should work.
Anyone with a aquarium can keep fish,
But it takes real skill to be a fish keeper,
And it's spongeBob,

congoes are amazing looking fish, but never look as good as they might when people see young ones in a shop. i feel the same way about diamond tetras... when they're young and small in a shop tank, they're just a little silver tetra. it's only later that they truly live up to their name

Beautiful fish indeed, all tetras gain colour and finnage as they grow and become amazing creatures given good conditions. But i do like the congo's....Thank you for sharing
