Couldn't Resist
×
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

So I went to a lfs as I needed to chage the lightening in one of my tanks. Went in there and picked up the lightening.............then I also picked up a dwarf gourami and two killifish and 6 shrimp!!!
When will I learn! On the plus side, I havent kept Killi's or the gourami either. Gourami should be fine, the killi's are in a community tank,no fish there to hurt them. Im not looking to breed them, One has coloured up a bit the other is still washed out looking but to be expected as they only got delivered on Friday night and then I picked them up y/day so its been alot of activity for the wee guys!
The Gourami is spending most of his time in the plants in the other tank, can skittish if alot of movement in the room but its a quiet room so should be fine, nice colours on him also but will find it hard to get a pic of him as he is deep in the jungle of plants!!
As for the 6 shrimp, well they are alot more outgoing than the last lot of shrimp I got before. All are prowling the tank this morning!
So there ya go, I think all fishkeepers who go to buy some equipment or something secretly know they are gonna buy some fish too!!!
Gavin

Gavin do you know what type of killifish you got?
The washed out looking one is more than likely a female. Most female killifish are plane with very little colour.

Yeah I have most likely got one male and one female, not overly sure yet what type exactly I have. Must have a proper sit down and look at them tonight, have been crazy busy since y/day to actually have a proper look.
As for the lightening, its the thunder that bothers them more haha! My typo's will end up costing someone a shock!!

T8 light, daylight.
Poor Killies didnt last, they were v young and to be fair the owner of the store even said they were v young. Nonetheless the tank lights have really bought out the colour in my neons and tetras. Just goes to show how important it is to change the light.
