Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

hows things lads

over the last few month i could see my CO2 was not as strong as i think it should be and was only ever gettin at max 2 bubbles per sec on full?

the last day or so it is not workin but then it came back for a while and now gone again so i striped it all down and tuck everything apart so i could test it now i left the regulator on the CO2 bottle up full and and pressed the the handle down on the bottle which i think then should release the CO2 but in my case its not?

so now im thinkin it is the regulator anyone have this problem at all or could anyone advide me the best way to go about it?

i have being talkin to Marius and i think im going to get a new one tomo as i dont want to leave the tank with no CO2 for that long

it is a HYDOR regulator

ill add a few pics so u know wat im on about thanks

Sean

Bummer. :( As you know i dont have tonnes of experience, but from an outside point of view from reading your post, if the bottle is not empty, id say the regulator is the problem alright! Id imagine they are not the sort of thing that can be fixed easily.

Bring your bottle with you to manius if you are going down to him, he might let you try one of his regulators on it, just to make sure its not the valve on bottle either.

Hope you get it sorted!

no its not the bottle as it is only new and plus i tuck everything off the bottle and press it and it blew out (some noise) ha

Yeah, dont like the thought of not having the co2!
I have the needle valve on the one i got, running it off a timer (timers €2 in B&B at the moment) works great.

first off all i would like to say a big thanks to Marius (aquaworld)

as i had to work today i got the missus to bring up my solenoid and reg up to Marius as he said he would look at it and test it for me

it came out that the reg was faultily as i was only ever gettin about 1 or 2 bubbles per sec on full if at all times it wasnt workin for me at all

he then made up a new one for me as in connected it all up for me a brawn new reg and a Precision needle value so all i had to do was put it on my C02 F/E and adjust it to want i want now if i wanted i could have nearly 100 bubbles per sec (prob not really but u know wat i mean  )

the Precision needle value is great to adjust the CO2 that i need and now everything is up and running great

but haven puttin it all together for me and testin it that is someone that goes out off his way to make sure everything is perfect

so thanks a mill mate
