Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hello all, it's been a while science I posted here, I nearly feel like posting on "Introduce yourself" first. If you have very good eye sight you might be able to spot the fry as well in the video ;)

Thanks for watching.

Well done John !

I have to say, you are one of the most unassuming Blokes I have ever met, this guy knows so much about the Hobby and yet is the most humble... he falls into a select Group of breeders like Darren Dalton etc, amazing guys.. I have the highest respect... kudos John.

Welcome back to the forum Xeon.....although it's not as if we don't have longish chats off-line.

Nice video you bring with you as well. I hope that you'll keep us updated with a progress video diary.

A good few things breeding at the moment, hopefully I will have more time.

@ Draco . I moved the fry today and I only want one more spawn from them so if you will be looking for a pair in a while you know where to find one( they are great parents too).

@ Seamus . They are pretty slow growing for my likening but first pick is yours.

@ Kew . You are that convincing that you even make me think that I'm a nice chap:))

@ Ian . Nice video for a phone but not for my likeing thank you;) , hopefully I'll get a proper camera some day. I will try to keep you updated.

Thank you all for your comments

Thanks for letting me know about that Kevin, untill I buy a proper camera I'm not really worried that National Geographic it's going to use any of my pics :)) .
I put the kettle on, let me know when you want the sponges ;)

Chris, I never tested the water in that tank, but I will try to get them if I get a chance. I'll have a guess, ph around 6-6,5
kh maybe 1-2
gh 2-3. This is only based on knowing my tap water and the amount of fish, food and water changes. May be way off:))

They finally bred for you, John? Congrats, took a while! Lovely fish- the ones you sold me are still trying to get their own brood, but even the tenacity of the female can't stop her eggs being eaten, poor girl.
