Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

So it took a while and some effort , but i have managed to raise the fry.
When i got rid of all the tanks i saved 1 tank with my L107 as i did not have the heart to sell them as i found fry. After losing my Macs i said nothing on here as not to jink myself but the fry are well on the way now :-)
I have a total of 25 fry now of all different sizes from 1 cm to 4 cm :-)
Took some quick snaps they are shy fish and i can never seem to get the females.

Thanks guys :-)
I worked hard with water changes and stay on them.
The tank is in my friends house until i move to my new place and set up a little fish room.
Have my eye on a nice group of L046 just need to sell a few of these fellas of first for funds.
I have an offer on the breeding group as they are breeding like clock work each month now but i am not sure as they are difficult to find over here VF.

Really pretty Ancistrus and a fancy looking breeding cave too:)

I knew I had seen your photos before and they are always very good!

Are you not involved in Aquafarmen?

I do it as a hobby really and like the challenge.
I do sell the fish i breed but not to all i need to know the people have an interest so they will put the time and effort needed into them.Plus most fish i have had are always not so common and hard to find :-) 1 fish i have to get again are some Macrostroma betta as the ones i had last time did not end up pretty and near stopped me having fish at all.I think my lady would flip out if i went in to it on a big level again :-)
All i want now is a 5000 litre custom tank when i building my new house if i can ever the fecking planning approved.A long process here in Norway :-O

There is a custom acrylic tank i know of that was made up for a customer and then he changed his mind so lost his deposit.Because of this the price is very attractive. On the other hand to move the tank and install in the wall and setup the room for all equipment needed behind is going to be a huge challenge and expense but i have a fund for this and we will see what the boss thinks when we get that far.Dont worry if i can get a fish room somewhere for a few nice fish i will :-)

The "farm" looks like a really good idea, If I ever would move back to Sweden I would love to drive over to have a look.

Best of luck with the planning permission and the Macrostoma!

Talk to the suppliers of the goods you need for this monster tank and get them to provide you a wife friendly receipt... I know aquapaws used do it, which is why I'm still alive ;-)
