Esha Exit & 2000 - staining and compatibility
×
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

So I picked up the above-mentioned medications for use in my goldfish tank. The manufacturer advises that they are safe to use together but that 2000 is not safe for use with snails so my nerites and newly-discovered stowaway Malaysian trumpet will have to be housed elsewhere. But I'm also concerned about staining as they contain methylene blue and malachite green; the label also warns of staining. My tank contains:
- various live plants
- a few white porcelain pots for some of the plants
- 3 silk plants
- a piece of dark driftwood
- pale rocks
- a few pale seashells
- a homemade filter made of a plastic 2L bottle full of plastic pot scrubbers etc
- a coconut shell.
Can anyone who has used these products before tell me what things I need to remove from the tank to avoid them getting ruined?
Thanks!

Thankfully and luckily i haven't had to use these products in a long time but i still can't recall staining of any kind in a tank after using them in the past and i would of used all of what you stated aswell.......Methylene blue used as just it i know is a fecking nightmare but even though it's present in eSHa EXIT i still think your safe.
Aim the nozzle outlet of the filter in to an open space of water(if that makes sense) and drip the dosage right in front of the nozzle and it should dilute into a large amount of water very quickly.....I don't know if adding the dosage that way makes any difference to just dripping it in anywhere but that's just how i always did it.
All the best and i really hope them porcelain pots don't turn blue

Any decent fishshop to be honest. I know Seahorse carries this range for sure. I have white sand in m tank and have never noticed any staining to be honest if that helps... brian

^ What he said
Thanks for the reassurance about the staining. Hopefully it'll be grand.
