Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

I need help, and before anyone says, that's been a long time coming, look at this ! i669.photobucket.com/albums/vv57/stretnik/IMG_1355.jpg
The top part of the Picture shows a Daphnia caught by the Tentacles and struggling to free itself the lower part shows the Hydra with Tentacles visibly extended.
These buggers are in a Tank of not so cheap Crystals.

Many thanks for sending the Flubendazole, I got in late last night and discovered it in the Post Box so I will let you and everyone know how things go, according to the included Literature you sent, it looks like a very potent drug.
Thanks again Colin.

An update on my original post...
As you will have noticed, Colin, aka Puddlefish offered to send me some medication, namely Flubendazole, to eradicate the problem, well, his word is as good as his Posts.
The Packet arrived shortly after and everything had Puddlefish written on it, I mean with respect to this man's attention to detail.
The meds were sent in a bubble envelope with a Sticker with his name on it and a little fish printed onto it, inside were two Ziplock bags one with the Powdered meds and this was inside another for safe keeping.
Anyway, let's get to the Heart of the matter, the meds, I put the dose into the Tank after mixing it up in some Tank Water, it clouded the water like dilute milk, I left Betta imbellis, Crystal Shrimp and Nerite Snails in The Tank.
Next Morning, 8 Hours later, Gone, not a single Hydra was left and more to the point, all inhabitants were undamaged, healthy as ever and a white mark on the Female Betta was also gone so.. It definitely did the Job.
Why can't these meds be purchased here?
I was recently in Canada where I discussed Medications with People and they were saying that Meds, particularly Antibiotics, were going to be banned due to people using them for Fish illnesses and then putting the Water from water changes down the Sink, the Water treatment Companies don't treat for these Chemicals and therefore they make their way back to humans.
The proof that medications make their way back to Humans is shown by such a simple thing as Women's Birth control Pills, according to Experts, in developed parts of the World, men's fertility is dropping because of Oestrogen in the Water supply and Fish reproduction in the Rivers etc is affected this way too.
Once again, thanks Colin for the Flubendazole.

Thank goodness I put all my waste water onto the rose bushes and nowhere near a water table. It just shows the effect we keepers can have and that we should responsibly take care of our tank rubbish be it plants, water, gravel....
