Now what?

Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Ok, last Friday night abot 23.30 there was a power cut here in Finglas South. It lasted about an hour or so and the following morning the water coming from my taps has been stinking with chlorine. I know they treat water after a seious power cut, but this was short. Anyway, the water is still reeking of it and Im wondering if anyone else here in the area has any idea as to whats going on? Im never anal about doing wc's with my tap water as I use all the treatments but this is particularly bad. Ive even gone and purchased bottled water to make the rosey...

The water is pretty loaded with it too lately, no power cut but they have dumped a load in for sure, I stopped drinking it 4 months ago, baby on the way so can't let herself drink it either so were on the bottles.
It had smelt like a public swimming pool coming out of the tap when the power went a month ago for an hour. I am worried about what else is in there, lost a healthy seemedly, pleco yesterday, first fish death in my 450

interesting lads. When the water cut happened about 2 weeks I had a tds reading from the day before it happened which was 78 and a tds reading when the water came back 162. I must check it again and see if it has come back down.

Thats a bit of a jump bro. Are you in the area? Am I right in assuming that if they get a higher reading of TDS in the supply then they will treat it? What could be responsible for a jump like thatas its not like we have had a huge amount of rainfall? Or is there other factors to weigh off? Apologies for all the questions but Im strongly thinking about foregoing my weekly wc's until I can wash my hands without smelling like bleach.

Jay,
I dont know what caused the jump, my guess would be that the water got contaminated during the leak or the added a crap load of something in case it got contaminated. I use RO so it does'nt matter to me so much. I am in Beaumont

Cool. I think Ill pick up the phone and see if I can get an idea of when it will be flushed through. Im strongly considering an RO unit myself now as the stuff I buy goes into the salty tank and that uses it all. Cheers,
