Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin
oh dear what have i done????

Wasn't too bad Jeff cause the tank was empty when I took it out ....just scooped it up and straight into the bin....

Will I won't I moment haha yeh murderer, just blame the alcohol and drugs (nicotine)
Ah no it will run better fir yeh now good decision
Your lucky it wasn't that smelly I can still smell mine now
It be a good idea to run an extra wet skim for a couple of weeks
And run extra po4 remover what ever one ur using
I done it that way and had no issues at all with water quality

Don't think I'm going to be using as much rock in the tank now....or if I do use some more I might be a bit more selective about the rocks that go in....
Picked up a litttle nano yesterday for a fairly decent price......I'll do a water change maybe next week and use that water and my rock and hopefully instant another tank going...
Now now stay away from that nano till u sort out the main tank
If theirs enough rock to match ur ltrs of water don't bother buying more unless of course your building a new structure and you haven't enough
Oh any pics of the hard work you been doing top and bottom please....... hehe

Going to be getting a couple if dc pumps though for the skimmer...originally the skimmer was being fed using a 4000lph pump..tryd a little pump just to get the skimmer back going and it's a little 1200lph dc pump....maybe not enough but it's doing a girly good job
One of the corals I had kind of been worried onout the most was the trumpet....got this coral as maybe 3 small heads and now it's got 12....but I can finally see that it's trying to make itself into a circle shape....or at least that's what it looks like to me.

Beast of a skimmer they are, deffo needs a beast of a pump
I've always and always will say building the rock work is a nightmare and never turns out the way u had it in ur head
I do believe we over think things
The way I done my pillars the last time was nuts it was stupid o,clock in the morning few beers on me no lights in the tank and crap lights in the sitting room
I just went for it biggest first once it was sturdy move on to the next biggest that go beside it and so on half way up turn to smaller rocks, ones that if they do slip before you stick them they won't do any damage as long as they don't hit the front glass and scrape it
If you just go for it with that in mind you will be able to do pillars big or small

What are you doing to paste it so many times?
so I had a look, you need to click on the "get link codes" icon (looks like a piece of a chain)
then a new window will pop up, click on the "forum" field under the link codes section. It will automatically copy it, then just paste it in!

If you open a picture, on the right side you will have a share option, click on the forum field/option and it will automatically copy that to your clipboard. Then paste it here directly no need ot use the insert picture thingie
hope this makes sense... probably not lol
I'm trying this method also and it's not making since I don't see the forum field option on the right , any more help with this

yes so, starting from the top left, you have several icons, google plus, facebook etc. Well if you keep going the 6th icon (looks like a chain and is the first grey icon) is the one you need to click on, then a new window will pop up and there you will have the different sharing options (IMG is the option for the forum)
You dont need to right click, if you left click on it, it will automatically copy the link for you so all oyu have to do then is paste it directly into the message.
Let me know otherwise I can make a step by step post
