Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

I had this little 54ltr sitting at home,
I decided on a Dessie variation (loads of substrate)

I have just set this up with a couple of kgs of mando,
I'm thinking of heavily planting this and adding some diy co2
And as far as stock is concerned I would like to get some suggestions
From you guys,
I have a pair of Pandrini there but I think that may be to small for them?

well done on getting the ok on having the tank in work, nice one

I'd say that'd be perfect for the pair of pandurini and then when they breed you might be able to get the ok on a second (slightly bigger) tank

(You never know what this could lead to... )
Although I might consider upgrading the filtration, just me personally like, actually I have a spare internal knocking about somewhere I'm sure, Your welcome to it if you'd like to add it to the tank ?
either way, well done on getting the tank in work, I'd say it'll be a very enjoyable little project, I eventually got the ok years ago to get a little tank in work, when I was in CAD before I was in the aquatic trade, I loved it, everyone else in the job ended up loving it as well...
Des
P.s.
Nice substrate

And planted up nicely

bet you'll have a load of coworkers looking into it, asking questions and then saying "Jaaaaysus!"

Done a small water change this morning after putting the plants and wood in,
Started dosing with easycarbo also,
Il have the lights on from 830 till 530 so hopefully that will give the plants a boost
I'm looking for plants to make use of the mando that's there,
If anyone has any recommendations on easy plants or donations

Let me know

The plants have come on a fair bit,
Starting to get algae on some of the leaves,
So maybe a biological solution to the problem is called for,(ottos x 3)
Probably going to shift the danios shortly and start looking at some endlers
Cheers for having a look

Just dosing with easycarbo daily for the last few weeks,
I've stopped now as I feel the plants have established,
So il just use the lights for the next few weeks,
Then when I have the stock I want il start with the diy co2,

Got 4 beautiful Japanese dwarf guppies off Lydia yesterday and a load of lovely endlers off des on Friday,
Might look at getting some nice moss in case of any babies,
So if anyone has decent portions let me know

Enjoy
