Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

thanks mate. I think I might be falling back to my "Plan B" of using Hydrocotyle tripartita. At least I know I can grow that without too much trouble :)

I mean this fertiliser you should use for any plants if you have lots of lights and co2 because theyhneed to be feed.

Due to moving house in November, the aquarium has been disassembled. In its place, a new arrangement.

Very, very nice as always!

What did you use as a background for this one, almost locks like watercolours?

I don't have any secret. Everything what i use in on first page of topic :)
I can always help if anybody want.

Very, very nice as always!

Thanks
Background is clear just this. Behind wall white colour. For pictures lift up cover from back so more lights going on back wall and you can get this effect.
For pic you can use more lights from the back (between tank and wall)

Thanks, it creates a great effect. I might try to experiment with this myself.

Now that's what I call a well taught out and executed aquascape.

The plant choice is excellent and I particularly like the way you have grown the staurogyne repens.

A tank you must be really proud off. Any one would be.

An inspiring aquascape. Just beautiful to look at with excellent photos.

Well done.

Very nice tank you have there! and well done on pants keeping them so healthy.
..but I have some silly questions there B)

Tell me about your ferts.
do you dose as stated in first post:
"Fertilization: EI (salts) + EL Profito, Ferro Carbo"

Is EI not enough?
What has profito and ferro that EI don't?
You adding Profito and ferro once a week?
"EL Profito - 21ml
EL Ferro - 2ml"
when changing water?

What's your EI dosage? as per recommendations in manual?

:silly:

I am planted!

I was just about to ask the same questions Lauris....I would have assumed that salts were sufficient but maybe not - his tank speaks for itself so can't wait to hear more...

Hi guys
Like i said year ago i started with:

Fertilization: EI (salts) + EL Profito, Ferro Carbo

macronutrient: witch are from dry salts
NO3 - 25ppm
KH2PO4 - 3ppm
K2SO4 - 15ppm

micronutrients
EL Profito - 21ml weekly
EL Ferro - 2ml weekly
Carbo EL - 3ml (daily)

During 1,5 year i change few times Profito for micronutrients Intermag and back to Profito again.
Intermag or dry salts are cheaper but i started have some problems with green front glass.
Easy carbo was very good but when finish i stoped use because cost some money :) Use just when i have problem with algae on rocks
Changes with fertz are dependent of old tube bulbs or older amazonia new so i have to sort out this problem.
I use now
NO3 - 25ppm
KH2PO4 - 3ppm
K2SO4 - 15ppm
Profito from 3 to 21 ml weekly

This picture was take for competition so was made in night time and with special lights :)
Aquascape is change now and i am working on the new project
Here some more pict from old aquascape

Soon new project :) for next year competition
