Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

I haven't received an email to tell me i have a PM in a couple of years...........I kind of remember bringing it up around the time i stopped receiving them but i never got it sorted up till now...........The box is ticked in settings to receive one but i don't for whatever reason.
I get an email for replies to posts that i'm subscribed to though.
Strange one!!

It's not a major problem by any means.

It seems strange that some members do receive email notifications of Private messages - while others of us, myself included, no longer do.
This had been reported when the problem first arose.
For myself it's an inconvenience - but as with Angle - no big deal.
Quite regularly I find it very hard to access the PM section, I wonder if anyone else is finding the same?
Again, a minor inconvenience - but after our recent Forum tribulations it's not really something to be troubling Darragh with.
Angle - did you ploy below work for you?

All I need is someone to send a pm to see if it works

But I'm subscribed to this thread I've gotten a notification every time someone replied,
Also on another note John,
Where is your "say what you feel"
Signature gone?
I really liked it

John
ps PM sent (ouch)
pps I did like that too, but - in order to get the 'Location' into the signature it wouldn't let me have both - and, for the time being I felt that I ought to 'lead by example' and have my location in the signature.

This is even getting crazier!
I used to have a post at the Wanted section about starlights , which now is gone, and you told me to contact this guy who is from other forum but sometimes visit this one.
As per Forum instructions periodically we purge all entries in the Trading Section which have not been responded to in the last month.

Thanks a lot for telling him, I sent him a text some weeks ago but he haven't check this forum for almost a month.
As for the the Tv show, I didn't want to watch it because I thought it was a typical show for girls such as desperate wifes or something like that...but I'm happy I gave a try because haven't laugh so much since Shameless.
