Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hi all this is the pair i bred 2 weeks ago. The reason i bred a Ct x Hm is im hoping with selective breeding that i can produce Hm's with strong rays in a few generations time.

Old photo of male. He's a lot bigger and stronger now

Female

1 week old fry

They're about 50 or so but I lost a couple when I transferred them but still plenty to work with

Nice mix, looking forward how they develop, but they'll be high quality fish for sure.

Picked up a small breeding tank off the guy on adverts with the glass divider. But had the fish a couple of months. Have a drip system just finished but just can't seem to get it working100% yet. I'll have space for 18 fish in it

About 6 weeks old now and coming along really well. Getting nice and strong. The colours are showing through a lot more now. Most of them are showing metallic blue but the odd one showing black. Looking forward to seeing what way the finage will develop

I started off with micro-worms for the 1st week and moved them on to instant bbs and non hatching decapsulated bbs. They are now being fed a mixture of loads of different dry food that I put into a pepper grinder. What tail type did you breed ? Any pics ?

Anywhere from 8-12 weeks depending on how quick they grow. I'm going to start jarring the strongest ones in the next few weeks so they should develop more then

They look great Eric.

BTW - thanks for the tip of the pepper grinder - I never thought of that and its a real pain grinding up grandules with a spoon or the handle of a screwdriver. Needless to say, the seasalt grinder in the kitchen got libertated (never used anyway.)

Iit is amazing to see the difference in the colours and patterns.
Everytime you use the expression " jarring them" it sounds like you are making preserves

The difference a few weeks make. The finage has filled out a lot more. A little damage to his anal fin as I had to pop him back into the grow=out for an hr but im sure it'll grow back. Really hoping to cross this male with either his HM mother or a half sister of my HM spawn
