Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Fair play looks good the trumpet looks cool against the black

Is that gravel or sand

It's live sand, probably a stupid question but is trumpet the same as candy cane because that's what I was sold?

I like both for different reasons.

The white will make you notice the actual tank that little bit more, easier to keep clean from salt as well as it wont really show up as much,

then again black will make you notice whats in the tank more, making it feel more like a reef as your not noticing the edging of the tank so much.

But i must say the white with the black sand must look lovely in person, i would personally keep it white.

I like the white at one stage I was going to paint mine white but it may effect the sale down the road, and the same for you if you paint it and you decide you want to go bigger it may effect the sale

I'd agree with Jeff
Consider wrapping it tho! It at least would be removable if wanted

Thanks lads I really love the white but really think the Mrs will get her way and it will be black. Il never hear the end of it otherwise and with how expensive this hobby can be I think I can take one for the team

Removed some green bubble algae and red bubble algae last night, all on the rock that the gsp's are on. This rock when I got it introduced a bristle worm, aipstasia and some little starfish which seem to be multiplying and now bubble algae.

Might be a good idea to nuke that rock that has all the crap on it and frag /save some of the coral, gsp grows rapid so don't worry if ur only left with a small bit
The little stars I'd say are asteria stars the multiple like rats and will stop ur tank from getting coraline algea as it's what their after and lots of stories of them turning to corals when coraline is not their for them, only way to 100% remove them is to use a harlequin shrimp, amazing looking shrimp probably the best in my opinion, but their not cheap at all for the size of it, but it works I've used them before
